Mellie Smith is a 21st Century gypsy. She likes to say that she has an artist’s temperament, but suspects that she just has ADD and prefers writing and painting to “regular” work. However true that may be, she and her husband like to call themselves “circuit grandparents,” living on the road and off-the-hook. She hums while cooking in her tiny RV kitchen, grows herbs in small pots and sprouts in large jars, and writes hunched over her laptop, rather like a demented gnome. She paints watercolors, murals, and children’s faces. She writes fantasy, poetry, and non-fiction. And sings like a bird: too early and too loudly. Hm. Maybe it’s not ADD…maybe she’s just happy.
