A day is spent searching for the dog, who has several adventures of his own before being found. The story is told in alternating chapters revealing what the boy, Sam, and Max, is each feeling during the period of loss, search and rescue. In this novella, designed by Barry Moser, the narrative is richly enhanced by stunning illustrations by Evanleigh Davis.

Peter Rose

Peter Rose is a sociologist, ethnographer, and prize-winning travel journalist. A retired professor, he is the author of a number of books on American pluralism and the dilemmas of diversity, several on his travels at home and abroad, and a memoir, POSTMONITIONS OF A PERIPATETIC PROFESSOR. He lives in Northampton and Wellfleet, Massachusetts.
