A 12-year old boy's Golden Retriever, Max, is caught up in an incoming tide and is lost at sea in Cape Cod Bay. A day is spent searching for the dog, who has several adventures of his own before being found. The story is told in alternating chapters revealing what the boy, Sam, and Max, is each feeling during the period of loss, search and rescue. In this novella, designed by Barry Moser, the narrative is richly enhanced by stunning illustrations by Evanleigh Davis.
