Paula Gately Tillman's Fringe features black and white darkroom photography that gives a rare and often never-before-seen glimpse into fashion, drag and music scenes, as well as other underground subcultures of New York and Atlanta from 1984 to 1997. Fringe was printed in a limited run of 350 individual books and 200 clamshell, special artist editions, which include Fringe, a companion book Nostalgia, and a signed digital print. The ephemera and personal photos that are included in Nostalgia supplement and enrich the narrative and photos of Fringe. Photo subjects include the American Music Show, Dick Richards, Tish and Snooky Bellomo (Manic Panic), Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey (World of Wonder), Michael Musto (Village Voice), Brant Mewborn (Rolling Stone), John Kelly (performance artist), and Nelson Sullivan, in addition to legendary drag performers such as RuPaul, Jayne County, Lady Bunny, Joey Arias —and others. Foreword by Kristen Hileman, Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, Baltimore Museum of Art. Conversations with Thom Jack, Susan Daboll, Eileen Lewis, Charles Rue Woods, Philip Yenawine, Rhonda Granger, Dick Richards, Cornel Rubino and Randy Gue.
