George Porcari was born in Lima, Peru and emigrated to the US in 1962 with his parents at the age of ten. He was raised in Gardena, a working class suburb of LA and moved to New York in 1979. He returned to LA in 2004 and got a Master's degree from the Art Center College in Pasadena. He worked as a librarian for 33 years and has been writing and publishing essays since 1988. His photography work has been exhibited in New York and Los Angeles since the same period.
