Jerry Lackey has spent more than 50 years as an agricultural journalist and farm broadcaster.
Reared in the Texas Hill Country, he has worked at state and national agriculture publications as well as having had a parallel career in television with Texas Agriculture Television Network, plus radio broadcasting with Voice of Southwest Agriculture Radio Network.
Lackey is agriculture editor emeritus for the San Angelo Standard-Times and perhaps best known for his Windmill Country columns which have been published in the Standard-Times for more than 25 years.
Included among his numerous honors are the “Oscar in Agriculture Award,” “Excellence in Agricultural Journalism”, “Shepherd’s Voice Award” and “Man of the Year in Texas Agriculture.”
He and his wife, Dee, live in San Angelo, Texas. They have four grown daughters and eight grandchildren.
