ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Elisabeth Pettersen Sonoff

Elisabeth Pettersen Sonoff grew up in Lillehammer, Norway. After graduating from high school, she attended the Teacher’s College of Home Economics in Oslo, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree. After working in Norway for a few years, she was awarded a Kellogg Foundation Fellowship to pursue a Master’s Degree in Food Science at Cornell University. While at Cornell, she met and married her husband, Raymond. She continued her studies at Cornell and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Food Science. After completing her degree, she moved with her husband and daughter to Connecticut. There she worked as a Food Science consultant doing technical writing and helping clients with food labeling and nutrition labeling issues. However, she always found time to bake for family and friends. She particularly enjoyed sharing her heritage baking with friends. Since many wanted the recipes, she decided to work on collecting them for publication. Elisabeth and her husband now live in Kentucky, close to family. She loves to bake, which to her is the best way to release stress.
