I grew up in Romeo, Michigan with two brothers of similar age. From the early 1970’s and into the 1980’s the one sport we played all Summer long was BASEBALL. Those summers included many all-day baseball games with my brothers Rick & John, the Steinbrink Boys, Jack Medley & Jeff Dupont. Plastic milk gallons filled with Kool Aid, and we were good for the entire afternoon. Never with enough players, pitcher’s hand was out & you had to call your field – meaning you had to say where you were going to hit the ball(Left & Center Field or Right & Center Field); hit where you didn’t call – you were out! Repetition developed skills & situational play developed understanding. High School & College playing experience as added still more pieces to this puzzle. Years later, coaching my sons and their teammates & the picture became more complete.
