Fabiola López-Durán is Associate Professor of Modern Art and Architecture, and Associate Director of the Center for Latin American and LatinX Studies at Rice University. She earned her Ph.D. in the History, Theory, and Criticism of Architecture and Art from MIT. She is the author of the award-winning book Eugenics in the Garden: Transatlantic Architecture and the Crafting of Modernity (UT Press, 2018) and co-editor of Architecture in Development: Systems and the Emergence of the Global South (Routledge, 2022). Additionally, she has authored several monographic books and essays on contemporary artists, including Felice Varini: Points de Vue (Lars Müller, 2004) and Ana Maria Tavares: Atlântica Moderna: Purus e Negros (Museu Vale, 2014), co-authored with Nikki Moore.
