ABOUT THE BOOK

Investments explained is intended to teach the investment basic to someone who has some knowledge about the world of investing, but wants to learn more. It explores qualitative topics like mutual funds, ETFs, the benefits of passive management and global diversification. It also helps to better understand quantitative topics like bond valuation, expected price changes in bonds given interest rate changes, several different models for equity valuation, several different options strategies, and portfolio performance attribution. This book is intended to be used in a college classroom. It is currently being used as the textbook for Investments and Portfolio Analysis as taught at Penn State Behrend and Penn State World Campus.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Eric Robbins

Eric Robbins is a CFA Charterholder and a CFP® Certificant. He is also a professor at Penn State Behrend's Black School of Business teaching courses on Investments (FIN 420) and Retirement Planning (FIN 450). He teaches both residential courses and online through Penn State’s World Campus. He has been working in the financial services industry since 1998 and teaching full-time since 2013. When not working with his students or developing new material for his classes, Eric enjoys spending time with his wife of 21 years and his two children.
