This catalog (bilingual: Russian-English) is the first independent comprehensive publication in almost 100 years, describing the local editions (provisionals) of Russia and the republics (1918-1922), and the USSR (1931), as well as the postal correspondence, if they have cataloged provisionals. The catalog describes changes in postal tariffs, as well as seven groups of provisionals. Certain issued stamps are described by the author in full detail showing the differences between genuine and counterfeits. This catalog is intended for a wide range of philatelists of the Big Russia-USSR area.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Joseph Geyfman

was born in Moscow, USSR, but lived most of my life in the city of Arkhangelsk (Archangel). I graduated from Medical School and worked as a Forensic Psychiatrist until I moved to the USA in 1990. I started collecting stamps in my early childhood, and my greatest interest is in the areas of mint never hinged stamps of Russia - RSFSR - USSR - Russian Federation 1858-2012 and Provisional (local) issues.
