Medea Isphording Bern

Medea Isphording Bern, a native Floridian, now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and two Tonkinese cats. During her 30 years in San Francisco, she has sought out jazz, blues, funk, gospel and alternative music in venues as varied as The Independent, Davies Symphony Hall and the funky Douglas Beach House. Her passion for listening to live music is fueled by the many and varied opportunities for discovering budding artists and appreciating iconic musicians. An attorney by trade, she earned a certificate in Creative Non-Fiction from Stanford in 2013 and her essays have appeared in print and on-line publications. She is the author of San Francisco Jazz, published in 2015 by Arcadia, and is currently working a collection of essays. Ms. Isphording Bern is an avid scuba diver and sailor, ornithophile, chef, gardener, Francophile. She is the very proud mother of two exceptional sons. When she is not enjoying marine activities and warm beaches, she loves to visit historic cities and towns and discover offbeat music venues and mingle with local artists.
