ABOUT THE BOOK

This is Rosie’s story as it relates to her life since she developed a serious infection. This infection changed her life forever but if you met Rosie, you would not know it. Because of her strong faith she has taken this infection and the things it has done to her and used it to help others. In this book you will learn how she never gives up and how she becomes a advocate for others. Her story will show you how her strong faith background is tested over and over again. Every time she looks “death” in the eye and keeps believing in God. As an amputee, everyday of her life is hard but she finds ways to help others, who might be struggling in their own life. This story is told with a voice that will help others no matter where they are in their life journey. Her goal is that her story can be used to help anyone who is struggling in life. She believes “Nothing is impossible with God” (Matthew 19:26) Note: This book is not a medical book but a book that tells a story that should be read by everyone including medical professionals. Rosie wrote this book to share more than her medical journey but she wanted to share how this journey changed her and how important her faith is to her journey. Medical records are able to tell you “what is the matter with Rosie” but this book tells you “what matters to Rosie”.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Rosie Bartel

I am a wife, mother, grandmother and educator. In August of 2009 I underwent a total right knee replacement that developed into a MRSA staph infection. This healthcare acquired infection has lead to 55 surgeries, over 200 hospitalizations, more than 100 blood transfusions, 10 incidents of septic shock, a right leg amputation six inches above the knee, and finally a total hip amputation with the removal of some of her pelvic bone. As I continue to battle this infection in my body, I am driven to share my story of survival. I use the story of my journey to advise or advocate for others. I believe in helping patients and caregivers find their voices. As a educator, I used stories to teach children and adults. Now I use my story to teach medical professionals and researchers.
