Dwight Burkholder was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the seventh of eight children. He grew up on a small farm where he learned the value of hard work and the importance of family values. Married at the age of 20, Dwight worked for a residential builder where he learned the carpentry trade. An avid hunter, Dwight has hunted throughout the United States, South Africa, and New Zealand. Dwight and his wife, Linda, enjoy travel and have visited places such as Europe, Italy, Sicily, South Africa, Mexico, Australia, Fiji, Brazil and New Zealand. The Burkholders are active in their local church in Virginia. They are proud parents of three adult children: Douglas, Latonya, and Susan and delighted grandparents of Reuben Joseph, Graham Leevi, Aerily Giseli, Canaan Jason, and Josannah Ave. Dwight’s other hobbies include golf, music, and playing the fiddle.
