ABOUT THE BOOK

In this legal history of the major cases involving the Rajneesh community in Oregon in the 1980s, Philip Toelkes, aka Sw. Prem Niren, Osho’s personal attorney, presents the documented evidence and applicable law proving the U.S. government’s biased and illegal attacks on Osho and his Community. From immigration to land use to separation of church and state to Sheela’s crimes, over 30 years of research is examined and documented. This work is accompanied by an online archive, available without additional cost, to all purchasers of the book. The archive contains the key documents discussed, including court filings and transcripts, and over 1700 relevant documents, including chronologies of relevant events and significant reported cases, book and treatise excerpts, law review and academic articles, and relevant press articles. The City of Rajneeshpuram grew from a dream to a city of several thousand on almost 100,000 acres of central Oregon high desert in less than 5 years. And was then destroyed by government attacks, which were supported by criminal acts orchestrated by Sheela, Osho’s personal secretary, without Osho’s knowledge. None of this is opinion; all is fully documented.
