ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Samuel Gonzalez-Rodriguez

Samuel González Rodríguez was born on September 3, 1993 in Manatí, Puerto Rico, the son of Juana M. Rodríguez Román and Samuel González Valentín. He took painting classes for the first time at age five. On the other hand, he ventured into the Boys Scouts of America in 2002, where for a space of three years, he acquired a large part of the leadership skills that have been part of his persona. He completed his primary and secondary studies at the Colegio de la Inmaculada de Manatí, graduating from High School in 2011.      Since his childhood, he has had an appreciation for the arts, but his greatest admiration has been for buildings. After five years of study, he obtained a Bachelor of Architecture at the Polytechnic University in San Juan in 2017. Once he obtained the degree, he decided to start a series of projects in disadvantaged communities in Puerto Rico: Pintalto. This artistic and community initiative has transformed, through art and citizen participation, urban environments into attractive places of interest for tourism and the general public, while encouraging the community to empower themselves in their environments. Under his direction, the Pintalto initiative has been replicated in numerous municipalities, which have experienced an increase in visits in the impacted sectors. As part of his interest in transforming the country's urban environments, Samuel pursues a Master's Degree in Planning at the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras since 2020.
