Dr. Scott Price currently serves as Carolina
Distinguished Professor of Music at The University of South Carolina School of Music. He is internationally recognized for his work with students with autism and other special needs and has presented solo recitals and piano teacher workshops for organizations throughout the United States and in Brazil, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand. Dr. Price is creator and served for 23 years as Editor-in-Chief of the online piano pedagogy journal Piano Pedagogy Forum, has made 39 full length recordings of educational piano music including those for the Premier Piano Course, has had articles on special needs and piano teaching published in major journals, and is a composer of educational piano compositions. He is the author of “The Inclusive Teaching Course,” an online instructional course for piano teachers working with students who have autism and other special needs. His awards include the “Best of BGSU Outstanding Graduate” alumnus award from Bowling Green State University in Ohio in 2002, and being named a Foundation Fellow by the Music Teachers National Association in 2009. He is the 2012 recipient of the Southeastern Conference Faculty Achievement Award for the University of South Carolina, a 2019 recipient of the Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy Outstanding Service Recognition Award, and the 2023 Distinguished Alumnus Award from The Cleveland Institute of Music. Dr. Price is founder and director of the Carolina LifeSong Initiative dedicated to providing piano lesson and music experiences for students with special needs, and in fostering best practices in teaching and teacher training.
