"Songs of Bretagne" is an advanced five movement suite for piano duo (2P/4H) set in a virtuosic impressionist style. At over 15 minutes of performance time, Charlie Plante explores the idiomatic characteristics of the piano, and two piano ensemble technique, to its fullest. Bretagne is a region in northwest France, characterized by its distinct celtic identity and folklore. This piano duo contains a collection of three folk stories from the region, almost as a storybook. Titles: I. Prologue, II. Tréo-Fall , III. Iannic-Ann-Ôd , IV. Ville d’Ys, V. Epilogue

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Charlie Plante

Charlie Plante is a young composer from Cedarburg, Wisconsin. He has been acclaimed in numerous national, regional and state competitions for his work, recently winning nationals through both the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Music Teachers National Association. Charlie has collaborated on his works with several professional and student groups at the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Waukesha County Conservatory of Music, UW Whitewater, UW River Falls, the Junior Composers Institute, and more. Additionally, Charlie has performed with the Racine Symphony Orchestra and MYSO.
