Everything Will Burn is a raw poetry collection about self-identity, family, grief, and hope that immerses the reader in the life of a flame that refuses to go out. The collection is in four sections: Spark, Fire, Douse, and Ember. Spark sets the scene of the religious, traditional, and conforming small town where the author grew up. Centered around when their family’s home burned down, Flame allows the reader to feel the heat generated when the author’s life goes up in flames. Douse comes next, expressing the melancholy that comes after the events that change us. The collection concludes with Ember, expressing the hope that endures despite everything, because: ”Everything will burn, but new Love will always be created.”
