January 1885, England.   Following the disappearance of his father the previous summer, along with the agonizing months of waiting and hoping for his return, at the dawn of a new year, Alexander Cooper and his friend Jacob Teagan leave the relative peace of their countryside village to find answers. But when a mysterious letter is found pinned to a tree near their camp, a letter written by an R.F., stating that they hold the answers to a secret life that his father lived, Cooper and Jacob soon realize that they are at the center of an even greater battle, as a sinister plot stirs from the far east of Europe, deep in the mountains of the Carpathians, one that threatens the survival of all of humanity, and one that only they and a handful of other brave souls can stand against.
