Elizabeth Friend was the daughter of Gabriel Friend (1752 to 1854) and the granddaughter of John Friend, Sr. (1728 to Aft 1808) and Karrenhappuck (Kerrenhappuck) Hyatt (173 to 1798). She was born in 1791 on the family farm at what was to become Friendsville, MD. Elizabeth would marry George Washington Sisler, move to Monongalia County (West) Virginia and raise a family of fifteen children (Susannah, Gabriel Friend, John, Elizabeth, Sarah, Catherine, Margaret, Martha, Clarissa Anne, Mary Ann, Rebecca Jane, George Washington (Jr.), Randolph, Lorenzo Dow Sisler and Priscilla). These books were formed with birth, marriage, death, and burial records, then expanded with the US Census, family bibles, books, land deeds, wills, estate records, photographs, personal histories, and military accounts. The goal of these books is to preserve a small portion of Elizabeth Friend, George Washington Sisler, and that of their descendants.
