ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jim Fletcher

Jim Fletcher is an author and artist who has exhibited his artworks in museums and galleries around the country. Jim was a paratrooper with the First Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division. In 1965 his unit was the first American stateside unit to be sent to Vietnam. His art exhibit, “Nam: Now a Memory,” has traveled around the US, and was prominently displayed at the New York State Capital Museum, Rockefeller Empire State, New York. This exhibit of drawings and paintings he calls his visual diary of memories. A native of Salem, Oregon, Jim moved with his family to Connecticut where he grew up. After returning from Vietnam, he moved to Minnesota to attend college. Education includes Fergus Falls Community College, Bemidji State University, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. He and his wife, Dee, live in Pelican Rapids, MN, where he taught art for 30 years. He refers to his former students as being the real teachers. Jim and Dee have two treasured children, Sheri and Ryan.
