His life was never a straight line. He left University of Maryland without a map for what came next. The Air Force gave him perspective. Junior college gave him direction. ArtCenter College of Design gave him purpose. He went on to shape iconic advertising, including the launch of Lexus, then returned to teach ArtCenter to mentor students who now call him “Ad-Dad.” He survived by moving sideways.
